About Laughton Barns
If you are looking for a romantic and rural wedding venue, we would highly recommend Laughton Barns. Set in the heart of the Sussex South Downs, it is surrounded by 84 acres of lush greenery and two picturesque lakes, providing the ultimate country wedding location.
The Crown Barn
The Crown Barn, which offers seating for up to 200 guests for your wedding breakfast, has been traditionally hand-built using local oak, brick and stone. The barn has fantastic rustic features including exposed beams and gothic style chandeliers, plus one entire side of the barn can be opened to give your wedding day a wonderful outdoor feel. Our young willow trees offer some shade on the newly paved drinks reception area, where your guests can sit and enjoy the surroundings.
The Apple Barn
The separate Apple Barn is licensed for civil ceremonies and, with the stunning South Downs in the distance, is a beautiful place for your ceremony. The Apple Barn also offers a fully lined marquee attached to the rear so your wedding or civil partnership can take place inside if required.
After the ceremony you can stroll down to the lakes to enjoy your drinks reception and canapés. You can then make your way through the beautiful grounds back to the Crown Barn, where you’ll enjoy your beautiful wedding breakfast — designed by you with the help of our Head Chef, Marc Bolger, and served by our team of dedicated, professional waiting staff.
On-site accommodation
If you’d like your guests to enjoy the venue further by staying overnight, we can offer the ultimate ‘glamping’ experience at Laughton Barns through our friends at the Bell Tent Company. They can put up a selection of stunning canvas tents at the venue for you, providing fantastic accommodation for your guests, and giving your wedding a VIP festival feel.
Exclusive use for your special day
To make sure that your day is as unique and memorable as possible, we offer all of our couples exclusive use of Laughton Barns. Also included in the venue hire are the Apple Ceremony Barn with additional marquee, overnight car parking, PA system for the ceremony, Crown Barn for reception, interview room, bridal changing room, tables, Chaviri chairs, bar area, outside furniture, sun parasols, helipad, 20 x 20 ft wooden dance floor, and resident Dj Matt Maurice from 7-12 pm.
Please note that no live band music is allowed at this venue, and that the minimum number of adult guests for the daytime reception is 80.
